2016 Diary – What a Christmas…

The count down is finished! I feel like Christmas can never really go exactly to plan, it’s one of those occasions where you take it as it comes.

It’s been a pretty tough build up to Christmas; one of my Nan’s went to Germany to spend it with my Aunt and cousins and ended up breaking her hip and being in hospital, but luckily she still managed to have Christmas dinner at my aunties house and not in the hospital πŸ™‚ Then on Christmas Eve my closest friends had a car accident 😦 But thank God they’re A-OK! And then Boxing day we had plans for some close friends (who are pretty much family) from Huntington to come over, it’s a sort of tradition that they come over on Boxing day, But unfortunately they had to rush back to Huntington as there was a family emergency. It has definitely been quite a rough month, but as always we will get through it and look at the bright side of things.. IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

This Christmas may have had a few bumps in the road but it also had many Crimbo classics, wrapping paper takeovers and memorable laughs πŸ˜€

I feel like this can’t just be me..? But I really hate when people watch me open my presents, I much prefer when I give my friends and family their presents and *fingers crossed* a huge smile appear on their faces.

This year I have been able to buy all presents myself, as I have been working a total of nearly two years now so I am independent enough to go out and buy presents for my family and friends, instead of having help by my parents with money and them just handing me gifts and saying “This is for ____” It was also so lovely to be able to surprise my parents with gifts they did not expect πŸ™‚ Giving my mum her gift was the one thing that I was so excited for! For my birthday this year my parents got me a Polaroid camera (as you may know if you have read previous blogz), and I could tell that she clearly really wanted one herself… and as I now work in a camera shop it was pretty easy to get a hold of one, that was also her favourite colour and a kit set! So once we all finished our presents I thought I’d leave it a bit and pretend that all the presents had been done… once we had cleaned up the wrapping paper and she was settled on the sofa with a cuppa, I brought the present over to her and as she started to open it, she realised what is was and she couldn’t believe it! As she always does with these sort of situations.. a few happy tears started to fall πŸ™‚ It honestly made my day seeing her with the biggest smile on her face!

I am SO grateful and thankful for all the presents that I got! It’s really hard to chose which
are my favourite but I definitely have 2 which I absolutely love… One being from my parents which has a HPSprocket, it’s basically a mini printer which prints from an app on your phone, so for example you could take a selfie with friends or capture a place your visiting… and right there and then you can print that photo, with borders, filters, stickers, texts of your choice and design them however you like! It’s so amazing and perfect for me as I live life in a scrapbook.img_0657

The second present that I got was from myΒ brother, this was extra special to my because
like me, my parents have always helped my brother out with buying presents for others… but this year he also brought all of the presents himself. I really didn’t expect anything from anyone, especially my brother haha! But this year he put some money aside for me and got me a film camera – an Olympus OM2! I was so excited when I opened this and instantly put a roll of film in it and captured the moment, I can’t wait to develop this when I go back to work this week πŸ˜€ Thank you!img_0675

Of course I loved every other presents that I got and I really couldn’t ask for better family and friends to share this Christmas with!

What a Christmas this has been..! I hope you had a very merry Christmas?! Let me know πŸ™‚

2016 Diary – Job update & CRIMBO!!!

December… More like rushember or debtcember! The last month of the year always goes the fastest as your buying presents on all of your spare days, and working on all the other days to have enough money to be able to afford all the presents.

This is the first year where I have had a job where I work over Christmas and new years. It’s quite odd but then again I’m really enjoying my new job so I honestly don’t mind πŸ™‚

My new job is going great! I don’t really know whether to still call it new as I have now been working there just over a month..? But still, it’s going great, amazing in fact πŸ˜€ Β I have definitely gained a lot of confidence with communicating with customers! When I first started I was really nervous to answer and make calls, before I picked up the phone I always felt like I had a dry throat and had to keep coughing :/ But as soon as I answered I was ok! Now however, I can answer the phone a lot more “sufficient”?? I’d like to say… Because I know most answers to what the customers may ask, I know who to pass on too if needed. I also know a lot more one to one customer service, so actually working in the shop, and I really surprisingly like it πŸ˜€ Β The technician (lets call him J or S, depending on who I am on about but both being the technicians) S has been helping me out whenever some one has brought in a repair that they would like looking at, so whenever someone comes in asking for an estimate on a repair I can now go straight out and check it over! I can sometimes diagnose what needs repairing as well. I obviously still have a bit more confidence to build but I am honestly quite proud of myself because I was really worried and anxious about not fitting in, isn’t everyone??? But overall Β I am so happy with with the job!

Within the first week of December we put up our tree and all of the lights, so of course I thought what an opportunity to get a few photos…

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas!

2016 Diary – APPRENTICESHIP! Week 1,2 & 3 complete

So much has happened in the past 2 weeks!

In my previous blog I wrote about looking at doing an apprenticeship. A lot has defiantly happened… I’ve got a new job πŸ˜€

There is so much to go through with you so I promise that I’m going to try keep it short and sweet… But remember this is me we are talking about!

Just over 2 weeks ago I decided to hand in my CV to quite a few companies which were looking for an apprentice… A few got back to me, one being my favourite shop! (Which of course is a camera shop)

They got in touch with me and told me that they was very impressed with my CV and would love for me to make it to an interview the next morning!!! My heart was pounding when I was on the phone as I felt so gob smacked that they got in touch so quickly and offered me an interview for the next day AS WELL! So I prepared for the interview all evening and made sure that I had smart attire ready for me to wear.

The next morning I woke up so energetic but so nervous as I had never had a “proper” interview before, as I’ve only ever really worked for my parents and they obviously knew me of the back of their hand, so there was never a need to have an interview. I got to the shop where my interview was held 15 minutes early and walked in head held high! All of the genuine interview questions got asked, with a few specific camera questions which I got correct, GO ME! I got to meet some of the staff which gave me a lovely welcoming πŸ™‚ I was pretty happy with how the interview went, I could only hope they thought the same…

The next day I got a Β call asking me if I would be able to make it to a trial day… OF COURSE I said yes! I had two days until my trail as it was on a Monday and I got offered the trail on a Friday. That weekend went so fast for me as my nerves made everything seem like it was flashing by me and suddenly I was on a bus heading to my favourite shop for a trail! I met a lot more people and got to have ago at the admin database; booking in cameras, sorting the repairs and checking over cameras so see if I could tell what needed repairing. I really enjoyed the trail day and it made me want the job even more, which I didn’t think was possible! Overall I would like to say both the interview and trial day went pretty successful… But now the wait for that one call which would tell me the date of my new job OR something I really didn’t want to hear…

The wait for this one call felt like weeks… But only two days later while I was on my break at my old job I got a call asking if I had handed in my notice yet as I have been offered the job!!! I was so happy! I sort of froze on the phone and was a tad speechless. That day turned out to be my last day at my catering job which was a bit emotional as I had grown very strong friendships with everyone that I worked with there, but also my first day of a new beginning and a very exciting opportunity!

A few weeks later…

As I’m currently writing this I have just finished my third week as my new job… I was meant to post this blog after my first week but as it’s Christmas whenever I’ve had a spare moment I have been shopping and planning presents… I take my present wrapping and preparing quite seriouslyΒ πŸ˜‚

The past three weeks have been amazing! This job is probably one of the best decisions I have made in a while πŸ™‚ I feel quite settled in now and I get on with every body. I have completely organised my desk area and the admin side of the shop too, so everybody is very appreciative of that as I am the one who has to take care of customers equipment so I have to make sure everything is easy to find and in order.

I’m so glad that I have finally been able to finish this blog off as I have been so excited to tell you about the new update in my life πŸ™‚

2016 Diary – Apprentice & Bunny update!

“Good luck” something I’ve never really had…But Today (25/10/16) has really shown my otherwise!

I’ve been looking at apprenticeships for a while now and last night I sent my CV to a few different apprenticeship opportunities, and as I was about to shut down my laptop I decided to have one more look… what did I find? The perfect one! A camera store admin, my favourite camera store as well (which is a total bonus!) I was so excited when I saw this so sent of my CV and application straight away. I then went downstairs to tell my parents about finding the apprenticeship which is perfect for me in all areas; education, transport, learning skills that help towards my career path… where we decided that the next morning we were going to go to the store and hand my CV in personally so they can get a face to go with the application πŸ™‚ The manager told me that he would check out my application straight away and contact his manager about all the “buisnessy” stuff, and contact me as soon as.

So my parents, my nan and myself decided to go out for some lunch πŸ™‚ During our lovely lunch I got a phone call from the camera store telling me that they was very impressed with my CV and would love if I could come for an interview TOMORROW! It felt like I had walked into the store, spoke to the manager, shut my eyes with hope, opened them again and got the phone call.. It all happened so quick! I’m so nervous as I have never really had a “proper” interview, as I have always worked for my parents. I’m just going to give it my all and just be myself!

Now for a bunny update πŸ™‚ The lil’guy has completely settled in our home. He knows exactly where his cage is, so we can let him wonder around the house downstairs and when he has had enough of Treacle (our dog) and all our other animals… he just hops himself back up the stairs and into his cage. He loves having walks in the garden as he can jump as high as he wants and can run about like a looney… That just adds more to the reason why I named him ‘Looney’! Treacle has calmed down a lot compared to when we first introduced them too, which is great as we can let them play together in the garden. I think Treacle considers Β Looney as her little baby, or something along those lines, because she over protects him when they are in the garden. She herds him away from the chickens and the garden edge, which is actually really cute. So of course I got some photos of them both bonding πŸ™‚

If you have any advice for interviews, please let me know in the comments πŸ˜€ I will let you know how the interview went in my next blog!

2016 Diary – mind stealing adventures

Finding new places, with amazing friends is always something I love to do but don’t always get time for…

Myself and one of my closest friends decided to meet up and go on a completely random adventure, as you do. We ended up chilling out under a bridge where the sounds of cars zooming buy blocked out all train of thought. My friend got her acoustic out and played whatever she felt like, while I was shooting away capturing the surroundings πŸ™‚

Being out in fresh air, forgetting everything for a little bit, and having the free space really steals your mind away from you… in a good way of course!

Hope you are well?!

2016 Diary – Re-thinking & strange, yet beautiful sunsets

I know that re-thinking really isn’t the best thing to do, but when things keep leading to the same conclusion or reason it starts to make me question.. How come some of the most simple situations, aren’t simple anymore? How did one person ruin and change so much in my life?

I don’t usually like to write about the negatives in my life, but I have had a few blogz in my ‘drafts’ box for quite a while… Now, I like to/want to talk about anything and everything.. exactly like a diary, which is what I aim to do in all my blog posts πŸ™‚Β Some days may conclude to be really interesting and exciting… where others could just be me writing about something that has been on my mind all day. But that is life, and everyone goes through different challenges in life.

If you have read my blogz before then you may remember that I left my old college, and I am now studying a completely different course at a new college. I’ll admit I love animals and completing the practical tasks where its hands on,Β and learning about the different diseases… It’s all very interesting and quite fascinating the more you find out! But a few of my lessons I’m really not hooking on with anything that I am learning and its quite frustrating. I don’t get whats wrong with me sometimes.. But I just feel so lost. I find certain “things” quite hard to explain, with this being one of them :/

I do enjoy college and it’s going pretty good but I just have mixed feelings in my head for whether to stay on or go for an apprenticeship, where I’ll have the independence I want and just getting to focus on one job instead of, what feels like 4.. I go college which also comes along with commercial experience and work experience which are completed in my own time, and then I also have my actual job. All together it’s messing up my body clock and I feel like I don’t really have something to focus on because there is so much going on.

In past blogs I have only really highlighted why I left college, and not really gone into detail because I see it as such a negative.. but this is a diary blog and I feel like I should talk about my day/s whether they are up or down? I could help myself out by talking about situations and getting them off my chest, and I might even help others as they may be going through similar situations and might feel alone at times… Β I don’t think that I am quite ready to write about why I left college an what happened just yet.. But in time I would love to be able to talk about it and help others through challenges too πŸ™‚

What I love doing most, that takes me out of “bad zones” is taking photos, if you have read my blogz before then you know how much I love photography! Going out on mini adventures and capturing moments… Is what I love to do. The other evening I was writing notes for an assignment, and I noticed the sky was going a mixture of colours so I, of course, had to get my camera out!

Overall with this college situation, I’m still at war in my mind with college vs apprenticeships. I’m going to find out a lot more about apprenticeships and see if there is one that would help me pursue my future career… But we will see and I will keep you updated πŸ™‚

2016 Diary – Adventures with my new lens

Do you ever open up your bank account expecting nothing but then you find out the money fairy was feeling pretty generous that pay day?? Sometimes I don’t realise how much I have actually been working, and then it gets to pay day and all the tiredness, hard work and having to wake up early was worth it!

For a while I have been wanting to add to my collection of lenses.. So after this summers pay day I thought I would treat myself πŸ™‚ I finally brought a 50mm lens!

One of the things that I love about photography other than the results, is APERTURE! I love working in manual and being able to control the aperture of what I’m photographing. If your reading this and thinking “what on earth is aperture?!” then I’ll quickly explain πŸ™‚ It’s basically the blurriness of an image. Say you was photographing a field of flowers but you only wanted to focus on one of the flowers, you would use an aperture of f/2.8 to blur all of the surroundings out, but if you wanted to have all of the flowers in focus you would use an aperture of f/16, to have most of the image sharp as there will be quite a great depth of field. I hope that made some sort of sense? πŸ™‚

I thought I would mess around with being able to use such an amazing aperture with my new lens.. and get some beautiful flower shots πŸ™‚ Both of the photo’s below give you a great example of aperture, in case my little description didn’t make any sense πŸ˜› As you can see both flowers are sharp and in focus, and then the backgrounds are completely blurred out so all the focus is on the flower which makes it stand out.

With getting a new lens… what could be better than going on an adventure to test it out πŸ˜€ Myself and one of my closest friends – Lauren, headed out around 6:30pm so we just caught the sun going down, which was beautiful!

Lauren and I have started working on something for a while and I hope these photos don’t give it away too much… I will be doing another blog more into depth soon about the many things that we have planned πŸ™‚

I don’t want to get too “gushy” or anything, but I just want to talk about my closest friend for a second… Lauren really inspires me with her motivation on never giving up,Β and always having determination to complete her goals and keep pushing through no matter how tough things may get. Out of all the photos that I took that evening this one is definitely my favourite because, to me, it shows her passion for what she loves.

One of the things that I have learned with over coming obstacles in life is just doing what I love best. Whatever your passion is, or whatever your goals are…just go for them and try your damn hardest!
